The support provided by Galdi Project Managers

Discover the role of our Project Managers: from planning to coordinating activities, while solving problems in real time

A short time ago we shared a video featuring some of Galdi Project Managers assigned to the installation of packaging lines and managing the most complex projects.

Today we'd like to share their approach and how they go about their work, alongside the resources and support we make available to our customers.

Managing information

When installing a packaging line or machine, information management is key to streamline and optimise the process.

Galdi Project Managers routinely hold preliminary meetings with a detailed list of items on their agenda.

Specific and technical issues such as the following are discussed:

  • Project timeline
  • Layout check; discussion of potential hinders during unloading/positioning
  • Planning of unloading and positioning operations
  • Exchange signals
  • Utilities; process/machine compatibility check (required flows, flow rates, and pressures)
  • Risk analysis
  • Cleaning (CIP, SIP, SOP, required products and manual cleaning)
  • FAT plan; open point during FAT
  • Operator and maintenance staff training

Depending on project and customer requirements, further meetings are conducted with relevant specialists on specific topics, for instance to discuss shelf life validation protocols with FILL good's microbiologist.

During planning and development, the project manager makes sure that all those involved have the information they need. He also facilitates the work of technicians and specialists, by optimizing information flows and discussion.

Planning and technical coordination

The experience of Galdi Project Managers, combined with on-site inspections and thorough operation planning, enables them to plan operations in a coordinated and synchronized manner, anticipating potential problems and avoiding delays.

After presenting the project, the PM shares customer requests with engineers and is in close and frequent contact with specialists on site to discuss any issues that may come up.

His role proves even more strategic thanks to the on-site support, and also when projects involve specific constraints:

Dealing with tight timelines

Technical coordination is especially critical when customers have special requests: shorter timelines, tight deadlines, or limited time slots to do the work (e.g.: weekend only).

For instance, a customer may require minimising downtime when replacing a packaging machine in an already operating plant or guaranteeing that production starts within a very short time span.

Quick problem solving

Another example: a negative shelf life test may impact on the timeline of a project.

In order to troubleshoot the causes and solve the problem as soon as possible, the assigned Project Manager is supported by Galdi designers and several specialists in the areas of software development, sanitisation, packaging and sealing - and coordinates verification and troubleshooting activities with process and plant technicians.

Dealing with requests once a project is underway

For instance, a customer requested additional equipment for the production area: Galdi System Integrator was called in to review and update the layout of the packaging line, also considering the ergonomics and safety of the solutions that were added later.

Comprehensive support

Being the single point of contact means guiding, assisting and supporting both customers and colleagues in technical roles, from planning to commissioning.

Galdi Project Managers ensure an optimal customer experience throughout the process, by offering as much support as possible according to individual needs:

Sharing know-how

The Project Manager makes sure that customers, and especially first-time buyers, get all the information they need to start production, ensuring the site operates efficiently and safely. Our PMs share information about the use of chemicals, cleaning cycles, equipment cleaning, line management, and the storage of packaged products.

Supported by the specialists at FILL good and Artema Pack, Galdi offers a comprehensive service. As your one-stop-shop for all your packaging line installation needs, we handle the entire project directly, from start to finish.

Documentation and compliance support

Galdi provides support for your documentation needs too, including the drafting of detailed reports (e.g.: certifications and safety documentation for machine unloading and handling).

Follow-up

After commissioning, the Project Manager checks that production is running smoothly and that operators and maintenance staff have received the relevant training.

From this point on, our After Sales department is in charge!
