Burnbrae Farms and Galdi: a past and a future based on values

Established in 1891, Burnbrae Farms is now one of the most solid and prominent players in the Canadian agri-food industry, a benchmark for the production of high-quality eggs and egg products.

We were therefore honoured to be chosen as a packaging partner by a company with more than 130 years of history, with which we discovered we also share values and a vision for the future.

For six generations, the Hudson family has run Burnbrae Farms responsibly and with foresight, delivering on their commitment to produce genuine, safe and sustainable products.

This commitment is renewed with the installation of a Galdi packaging machine for liquid eggs.

The new filling machine – the RG270 model with Ultra Clean configuration – is for packaging liquid eggs in 1kg and 500g Gable Top cartons and is installed at the factory in Winnipeg (Manitoba).

The packaging machine meets the production requirements of Burnbrae Farms while providing a number of improvements, which are valuable both now and in the future:

• More efficient and convenient washes: the automated washing procedures for the Galdi RG270 model guarantee high standards of hygiene and optimise one of the most resource-intensive and time-consuming processes for operators.

• Reduction in water and chemical consumption: the new packaging machine has been supporting Burnbrae Farms’ more than 20-year commitment to responsible water management, a commitment also shared by Galdi.

• User-friendly filling machine: in the in-house analysis, operators expressed their appreciation for the efficient design and user-friendliness of the new food packaging machine, assisted by an operator panel designed to guide and optimise the work also of operators with limited experience.

• Constant assistance: in addition to the support of Galdi Inc., Burnbrae Farms can rely on remote real-time assistance. With the secure connection, technicians can intervene directly on the machine systems, restoring optimum operating conditions.

Continuous improvement, the responsible use of resources, and a focus on the growth of employees and the community.

Due to the excellent relationship established during the project, we discovered the many similarities shared by Burnbrae Farms and Galdi.

Both companies were born as a result of the courage and initiative of the founders, and are now led by female entrepreneurs.

During her visit to our headquarters, the President and CEO Margaret Hudson noticed the strong connection with Galdi in terms of corporate culture and the entrepreneurial history of our President and CEO, Antonella Candiotto.

We have assisted many egg producers in transitioning from bag-in-box packaging to Gable Top cartons while supporting companies that, for the first time, have ventured into packaging liquid egg in cartons.

The know-how we have acquired over the years, combined with ongoing research, now enables us to offer liquid-egg packaging machines, which ensure optimal packaging parameters for liquid egg while fully respecting the nutritional and organoleptic qualities of the product.
