Galdi presents its AI Agent for packaging machines
One of Galdi’s priorities has always been to develop innovations that create real value for its clients in terms of technological solutions and dedicated services.
Today, with the integration of artificial intelligence into its packaging systems, Galdi can provide even more sophisticated support by introducing new functions intended to make processes more efficient while enhancing performance and making operators’ work easier and safer.
Diego Tosato, Machine Intelligence Manager and head of project development, points out that this is not just a simple step forward in technology, but a real new operating paradigm:
“AI applied to the packaging industry has been a much-discussed topic for several years. Galdi began experimenting with the aim of going beyond the chatbot concept that answer questions in order to bring real integrated AI to machines: an on-board system, directly connected to the HMI, independent of external platforms and able to constantly analyse the machine and reason, results in increased productivity and efficiency for our clients.”
An innovative approach to optimise performance
Galdi’s AI Agent, developed in-house, harnesses the computational power provided by the company’s new IIoT infrastructure, bringing AI to packaging solutions while making it available to production processes.
This integration allows the AI Agent to monitor the operation of the packaging machine in real time, by constantly analysing operational data and proactively suggesting the most appropriate actions to take in order to ensure maximum efficiency, reduce risks and prevent any anomalies resulting from improper use of the machine.
The AI Agent is of concrete support for the operator: it suggests, assists and guides in making operational decisions, always allowing the operator to confirm the suggested actions.
In this way, it also assists less experienced operators in correctly and efficiently using the packaging machine, thus helping to improve overall performance, boost production efficiency and avoid machine downtime or other operational issues.
AI and packaging machines: two examples of application
At Pack Expo Las Vegas, the AI Agent can be tested directly at the trade fair by means of interactive live demos, allowing visitors to experience its potential in real operating contexts.
The various scenarios to be presented will include two important examples to show how the Agent can provide concrete support for operators, also for those with less experience:
● In the event of sudden machine stoppages, it immediately analyses all active alarms, identifies the one that is actually causing the blockage, and provides clear instructions on the display about the cause of the problem and reset operations, thereby reducing potential machine downtime and increasing safety;
● In the event of a reduction in machine efficiency, it suggests the most suitable adjustments to optimise performance and recover any inefficiencies while ensuring that production is completed on schedule, and enabling predictive maintenance and the correct management of anomalous situations.
